An alarm on my clarisea is going off, what does it mean?
The ClariSea Smart Controller has a series of visual and audable alarm codes which will vary depending on the potential issue or status the controller has detected.
Below is a list of the alarm codes and potential causes to help troubleshoot.
- The controller has been powered on for first time.
- The controller has been reset by unpowering/powering and has now entered normal operation mode.
- The controller has been reset by holding the alarm button for 6 seconds and has now entered normal operation mode.
1 - The fleece roll may be jammed.
- Check that the fleece is rolling on the dirty spool straight and flat.
- Check that the clean roll is in position properly and has not become wet.
2 - The motor has not advanced.
- Check that the drive cruciform in the motor is in position and the locating screw has not come loose.
- Check that the wires going in to the back of the motor have not been pulled loose.
- Check that the power cable for the motor is connected to the controller.
- Check that the motor is functioning by resetting the controller and pressing the play button.
- Check that there is no water in the power connector between the motor and controller.
3 - The float has been activated for more than 5 seconds.
- Check that the float or its holder have not come loose.
- Check that the float toggle is free to move and not obstructed.
- Check that there is no water in the power connector between the float and controller.
- Check that the ClariSea is mounted in a suitable water depth.
ALARM 2 - Blue and red alarm LED flashing with an audable beep for 1 second every 2 seconds.
- The float has not been triggered within 8 hours.
- Check that there is sufficient water flow through the unit.
- Check that water is not bypassing the fleece through the side of the unit or guide plates.
- The float switch is set to its lowest position.
- Check the connection between the float swich and controller.
- Check that the float is operating by resetting the controller and activating the float switch by hand.
ALARM 3 - Red alarm LED flashing with short audable beep every 10 seconds.

- Check that the float is operating by resetting the controller and activating the float switch by hand.
If installed on a new tank with clean water reset the controller by pressing the alarm button for 5-7 seconds, DO NOT ROLL ON FLEECE MANUALLY. It may take time for the water level to reach operating height in a new tank the ClariSea has a preset time of 48 hours, this is enough for most situations but if the water is free of particulate it may take longer.
ALARM 4 - Blue and red light flashes 5 times and short audable alarm beeps five times when the advance button is pressed.
There is a potential short circit in the motor power.
- Check that the wires have not been pulled out the back of the motor.
- Check that there is no water in the connection between the controller and the motor.
- Disconnect the motor connection from the controller and press the play button, if the blue light flashes and controller beeps once the controller is funtioning normally. Re-connect the motor and press the play button, if the original alarm code is repeated there is a short circuit in the motor.
