The cleaning frequency depends on the growth and waste from the bacteria.

When the inside of the unit looks like it is getting choked with bacterial mulm or the recirculation flow slows down then it is time to clean it.

Pour the water into a bucket, scrape off the bactreial mulm from the DLS cartridge as best you can and then pour the water back in through a fine net. Top up the unit with water from the aquarium and re-assemble the unit. Stop the water flow to the unit for 2-3 hours then run as normal.

Never wash the DLS media cartridge in tap water, if the cartridge needs rinsing use a small amount of the old water from inside the reactor.
