Question:
I cannot get the KH output of my calcium reactor up to the levels in the instructions, what am I doing wrong?
Answer:
There are a number of things that may need to be checked to help achieve the high KH levels from the reactor.
- Check all connections to make sure that air is not being drawn in to the reactor. This will prevent the pH level in the unit dropping to the desired levels.
- After CO2 has been running in to the unit for at least 1 hour check the internal pH is between 6.1 and 6.3. If it is higher than this the CO2 input may need increasing. Always leave an hour before re-testing as it can take time for the adjutment to take full effect.
- Make sure that the test kit you are using is reading correctly and can acurately test water with a low pH.
- The water throughput may need adjusting, consult the product user manual for suggested flow rates.
- If the media inside the unit is old it may need replacing, we recomend the use of ROWAlith C for the Deltec calcium reactors.
