It is crucial that the tubing for the KH test reagent is installed correctly, free or air bubbles and clear of any obstructions for the KH Manager to perform a test.
Checking the KH Manger test reagent tubing
When checking the tubing on the test reagent pump it is best to check all parts, from the dosing container holding the reagent all the way through the machine to the dripper nozzle behind the pH probe holder/front cover. When checking the tube carefully follow the tubing looking for any air bubbles, weeping joints or discoloured patches in the tubing that could indicate a restriction or blockage.
If air is observed in the line confirm all joints are good and that the inlet end of the reagent tube is properly submerged in the test reagent. Any air will need to be purged from the line before running a test. To do this log in to the app and go to your KH Manager, select ‘Settings’ from the bottom right followed by ‘Maintain’ and ‘Running Pumps’. Make sure that the glass beaker is in position at the front of the machine and that the hosing is correct, then tap on the ‘Run’ button on the ‘KH Test Pump’ tile. A pop up will appear with options for quick running or normal running, choose the quick running option for purging air from the line, the pump should now start to run, once all air is purged from the line select the ‘Stop’ button from the ‘KH Test Pump’ tile.
Any blockages or potential restrictions in the pipework will need to be removed, always check the tip of the dripper nozzle as this is very fine and easily blocked. It is best to remove any effected sections of pipework from the machine and clean them through using a syringe of RO water and massaging the tube between your fingers until the tube is clean. If the pipework cannot be cleaned or a blockage cleared a Test Reagent Pump Maintenance Kit can be purchased trough your D-D retailer, this comes with everything needed to completely replace the entire line and pump tubing for the test reagent. When done follow the above procedure for flushing any air or RO water from the line before performing a test.
