Question:
What is the difference between the Hydra and a Hydra HD?
Answer:
The HD (Hyper Drive) is a generational upgrade of the Hydra platform. Externally they look identical, however there are control and function upgrades inside the HD units meaning you can use more power from the light. You also no longer need an external controll device to make the most of its features as there is an inbuilt Wi-Fi chip.
On non HD lights if you turn down the power on certain colour channels that power is lost and the light runs at a lower overall output. With the HD you can re-allocate that power to colours that you do want and can always maximise the power available from the ballast at 100% (if required).
